Later, languages became more intellectualized and concepts developed which could no longer be understood from the mere sound produced. A language became a more complex learning process.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"771\" data-end=\"1173\">However, even today the influence of sound on the meaning of words can be observed in language.<br data-start=\"866\" data-end=\"869\" \/>For instance, in almost all languages the word <strong data-start=\"916\" data-end=\"928\">\u00abmother\u00bb<\/strong> is conveyed with an <strong data-start=\"949\" data-end=\"956\">\u2018M\u2019<\/strong> sound \u2014 a sound which is inward and soft, in accordance with our perception of a mother\u2019s role.<br data-start=\"1052\" data-end=\"1055\" \/><strong data-start=\"1055\" data-end=\"1067\">\u00abFather\u00bb<\/strong>, on the other hand, is conveyed with <strong data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1112\">\u2018P\u2019<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1114\" data-end=\"1121\">\u2018F\u2019<\/strong>, or other outward, more abrupt and forceful sounds.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1175\" data-end=\"1178\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1207\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Language_Endangerment\"><\/span>Language Endangerment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1304\">Around <strong data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1249\">half of the world\u00b4s languages<\/strong> are predicted to disappear by the end of this century.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1400\">Currently, nearly <strong data-start=\"1324\" data-end=\"1364\">two-thirds of the world\u2019s population<\/strong> speak <strong data-start=\"1371\" data-end=\"1399\">one of just 12 languages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1402\" data-end=\"1428\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Areas_most_at_risk\"><\/span>Areas most at risk:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1429\" data-end=\"1516\">\n<li data-start=\"1429\" data-end=\"1450\">\n<p data-start=\"1431\" data-end=\"1450\">Amazon Rainforest<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1451\" data-end=\"1473\">\n<p data-start=\"1453\" data-end=\"1473\">Sub-Saharan Africa<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1474\" data-end=\"1485\">\n<p data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1485\">Oceania<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1499\">\n<p data-start=\"1488\" data-end=\"1499\">Australia<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1516\">\n<p data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1516\">Southeast Asia<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A language is the most authentic expression of the cultural identity of a group of people.
